چکیده

Advances in technology are making it increasingly attractive to incorporate specialized processing inside networks. Extensible networks enable network plugins to be dynamically loaded in routers, providing customized processing to individual application sessions. Examples of such processing include video compression, decompression and transcoding, general format conversions, and group information distribution. This paper addresses the question of how to design extensible networks to provide the bandwidth and processing resources needed to handle an expected traffic demand. The design of extensible networks is complicated by the fact that, in addition to dimensioning links to support traffic, processing resources must be allocated to support an expected traffic load. Since the use of extensible networks is driven by the applications that use them, the characteristics of those applications must be carefully considered in the network design process. This paper develops a framework for the design and configuration of cost-effective extensible networks that seamlessly integrates application characteristics and processing requirements into a general constraint-based network design methodology. We have incorporated these ideas into an interactive software design tool called the Extensible Network Planner(XNP), which enables convenient specification of network designs, rapid exploration of alternative designs and evaluation of those alternatives against automatically computed cost bounds. An efficient non-repudiation billing protocol in heterogeneous 3G-WLAN networks

The wireless communication with delivering variety of services to users is growing rapidly in recent years. The third generation of cellular networks (3G), and local wireless networks (WLAN) are the two widely used technologies in wireless networks. 3G networks have the capability of covering a vast area; while, WLAN networks provide higher transmission rates with less coverage. Since the two n...

Application of ANN Technique for Interconnected Power System Load Frequency Control (RESEARCH NOTE)

This paper describes an application of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to Load Frequency Control (LFC) of nonlinear power systems. Power systems, such as other industrial processes, have parametric uncertainties that for controller design had to take the uncertainties in to account. For this reason, in the design of LFC controller the idea of robust control theories are being used. To improve ...

Optimal Design of Geometrically Nonlinear Structures Under a Stability Constraint

This paper suggests an optimization-based methodology for the design of minimum weight structures with kinematic nonlinear behavior. Attention is focused on three-dimensional reticulated structures idealized with beam elements under proportional static loadings. The algorithm used for optimization is based on a classical optimality criterion approach using an active-set strategy for extreme lim...
